Isuzu Repair: 2001 Isuzu Rodeo wont start, 2001 isuzu rodeo, negative battery cable

Question
QUESTION: Truck was hesitating and stalling so we had a fuel pump installed. Truck has a rough start now but wait it gets better. Once the truck is started slamming the door shuts it down, shaking the truck shuts it down, putting it into drive shuts it down. The truck has a factory stock anti-theft system in it how do I have it disarmed for good? I have not driven my truck for 3 weeks and no one seems to be able to help me, can you? Thanks in advance, Tammy

ANSWER: Hello Tammy. These anti-theft devices are such a good thing if somebody designed it better. Have you tried putting the key in the ACC postition and leaving it there for 15 seconds? Or unhooking the battery cable for 30 seconds and reseting the whole system??

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Just by unhooking the battery for 30 seconds it resets the system? or is there something else you have to do? We changed the battery post connectors so the battery was unhooked. We also did the key thing for 20 minutes, cycled it 5 times, put the key in the driver side door turned to the left then to the right....still nothing. We even swapped out the anti theft module along with a couple of others. Let me ask you this, by changing the fuel pump could this have happened or did I not need a fuel pump?

ANSWER: Well I replaced my fuel pump on my 99 and it was fine. Although I unhooked the alarm relay and negative battery cable before doing this. I have done some research on this problem and it boggles even Isuzu Dealerships Tammy. Are you sure it is the anti-theft device???

QUESTION: What else could it be? When the truck is running both the anti theft system and the cruise control lights are lit. Any slight touch to the vehicle ex: slam door, put in drive, step on brake its like someone kills the engine. No sputter just shuts of. I really need help!

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
yellow/blue |-| Located in the
drivers kick in a white plug.
Trigger the power unlock and the factory alarm
disarm wires at the same time to disarm the alarm.

Once Located, splice into either wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.

Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the
valet/overide button, found under the
dash area, (push button, spring loaded)
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes on solid,
and the siren chirps once.

(Your valet switch might be the toggle
(on/off) type. in this case, key on,
flip switch in opposite direction,
then turn the key off.)

This should reset the alarm, and reset
the grounded relay on the starter wire,
allowing you to start the engine.

At this point, the only thing working would
be the keyless entry from the alarm,
if it came equipped that way.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to usable armed mode.
You may get 2 chirps, confirming it,
and the lights may flash twice as well.

That should do it.

Now you have both ways
to solve this one.

Have a good day
