QUESTION: I am driving the 1999 trooper 3.2 liter.  When I push the TOD button, the auto light flashes for about 30 seconds then the red check light comes on. And the 4 wheel drive does not engage.  I currently have a problem with the intake manifold gasket. I have not yet had it repaired as I am trying to find a mechanic that will make sure he does not break the engine wiring harness as I have been warned many mechanics do

Well This would indicate a major short in your system. Isuzu troopers and rodoes are known for thier horrible electrical problems. I would recommend having the 4wd solenoid to be checked and or the linkage. As for the intake manifold gaskets leaking, I replaced mine myself and had no problems with the wiring harness. I had a 99 as well and it worked out pretty well actually. I would recommend selling it tho after the repairs are done because it will just get worse Robert.
