Isuzu Repair: i have a 2000 trooper 3.5..., pvc valve, reputable shop

Question
i have a 2000 trooper 3.5 with 45,000 mi. it burns about 2-3 quarts of oil every 3000 miles. the dealer could not find the problem and said it was normal. I dont believe him. there is no smoke from the tail pipe and no visible leaks. It does smell of burned oil around the engine compartment after driven. Is it the pvc valve? it was in a frontal accident a year ago and that is when i noticed the problem started. There is also a buzzing sound in first and second gear since the accident, again the dealer said it was nothing to be concerned with.

Answer
Find another mechanic. Ther is no way that it burns 2-3 quarts of oil. It is going somewhere. That winding sound is your tranny, so check that fluid and look for any contaminants. I repeat- find another mechanic at a reputable shop and get a thorough ckeckout. email me back to see what he says and I will check with my mechanic and ask him what it is.
