QUESTION: IT IS A 1987 JAGUAR XJ6 4 DOOR SEDAN 4.2 LITER ENGINE.
SOMEONE VANDALIZED MY JAGUAR BY FORCING A SCREWDRIVER
IN THE KEY LOCK ENTRANCE AND DAMAGED THE LOCK. I CAN
LOCK THE DOOR WITH THE KEY BUT CANNOT LOCK ALL THE DOORS.
WITH THE ACUATOR...THE ACUATOR IS NEW.I THINK THAT THE RELAY
IS NOT WORKING. ALSO WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED I CAN HERE A
CLICKING NOISE.BUT FOR SURE CANNOT LOCK ALL THE DOORS WITH
THE MASTERLOCK WHICH IS (AS YOU KNOW)IS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE
PS:
THE FUSE IS NOT BLOWN.
REGARDS,
RICHARD

Answer
Hi Richard,

The master lock switch that operates all the doors is on the driver's door not the passenger's door. It looks just like the other door motors except it has four wires instead of two like all the other doors.

In the driver's door you can easily test the other three doors and trunk lock by alternating just two wires. First disconnect the four wires from the drivers door motor and apply power to the harness of the car wire colored Orange w/red tracer while you Ground the Orange w/green tracer wire and then switch the power and ground. All of the other doors locks should operate.

Then test the black wire in the car harness to see that it is a good ground. Then test the brown w/blue tracer for power. Then test the master lock switch by connecting the black wire of the harness to the black wire of the master switch and the brown w/blue tracer wire of the car harness to the purple wire of the master switch and with a test light or a volt meter test the other two wires of the master switch/motor (orange and pink) for power and ground when you operate the switch manually.

If you don't have a wiring diagram of the system let me know and I will post one on my web site for you to copy.
