Jaguar Repair: 85 jaguar xj6 fuel seloned or shut off valve left side, jaguar xj6 fuel, electrical failure

mr howard. i bough a new fuel shot off valve left side for 85 jag.xj6 when i took it out the box i could blow thru it is that normal or should be close.3

Hi James,

The left side fuel return valve is normally open and only closes when power is applied. The right side valve is the opposite. The fuel supply switching valve in the trunk is normally open to the left tank and only switches to the right tank when power is applied.

The system is designed that way so in the case of an electrical failure anywhere in the system, you can operate the car on the left tank.
