Jaguar Repair: 2004 Jaguar X Type, jaguar x type, driving in the rain

Hello, I know this particular model was not listed but I am hoping you can help, Only when driving in the rain, the gearbox light comes on then the check engine and the car does not want to move, have had it to several mechanics and they check codes and are not equipped to understand/read certain codes, I have been told by one of the mechanics who has been repairing foreign cars for years that if he knew what it was he could repair it,the nearest Jag dealership is over 2 hours away and the last time we had it towed there it cost us over $300 so if I new what to tell the local mechanics what the problem may be they may be able to fix it also I have found online a lot of other Jags like mine with the same problem can you help?

Go to (welshent.com) and download a catalog on your car. You can also find a phone number on the web site. Give them a call to the parts department and order a manual. Tell them what your problem is. I have found them to be very helpful. This is a common problem and they my know the solution. I hope that this helps. Sam
