Jaguar Repair: series 3 xj6 jaguar 1987, turn signal flasher, xj6 jaguar

Question
QUESTION: Hi:
how doi remove the switch from the steering column.
It  has 2 pins or ribbets holding it to the  " .
DO I KNOCK THEM OUT OR PRIZE THEM OUT?

THANKS
RICHARD

ANSWER: Hi Richard,

The heads of the two bolts are sheared off on installation so you need to take a small sharp chisel and hammer and tap the edges of the bolts in a counter clockwise direction to loosen the bolts. If you are purchasing a new switch assembly, it will come with new bolts which when tightened will shear off locking the switch in place.

RICHARD

PS.
HOW DO I DONATE TO YOUR WEBSITE......

ANSWER: Hi Richard,

All Experts is not my web site. I just volunteer to help people with problems on MG-Triumph and jaguars up to 1987 models. I don't think they accept donations. I do have a web site and I don't accept donations either but I do accept pictures of your British car as I have a page for British cars. If you want to add a picture of your car send it to longez8@bellsouth.net and I will put it up on my web site. I only put first names with a picture. My web site is http://mg-tri-jag.net

Glad I could help.

QUESTION: HOWARD
RICHARD AGAIN
ON MY 87 JAG THE TURN SIGNALS DO NOT WORK. WE TOOK THE SIGNAL OFF ANOTHER
JAG WHICH WAS OK.WHICH MEANS THERE IS A SHORTAGE SOMEWHERE.THE RELAY IS
OK THE FUSE IS OK ALSO. THE SIGNAL SWITCH ITSELF IS OK. PUZZLED.
GOT ANY SUGGESTIONS?
THANKS
RICHARD

Answer
What do you mean by "we took the signal off another Jag" Took what off another Jag? And what relay are you talking about? As there is no relay in the turn signal system. You need to make it more clear what you did. Are you calling the turn signal flasher unit a relay? It is not a relay. Which number fuse did you check as there are two fuses for the turn signals. If you were calling the flasher unit a relay, tell me how you tested it to call it "good".

Do you have a wiring diagram of the system? If not, let me know and I will put one up on my web site for you to copy.
