Jaguar Repair: replacing fuel filter on 1985 jaguar xj6, jaguar xj6, fuel filter

I replaced the fuel filter on my 1985 Jaguar xj6  my question is does the fuel  
out face up or down after the new filter is strapped in  ... not sure i did it correct
Thanks if you could help  KERMIT   Ps:  as of now the out is facing up

Up or down is useless information because someone may have changed the hoses at some time in the car's life. IN or OUT is the important thing.

The lines from the tanks go to the switching valve and from the valve to the pump and from the pump to the "IN" marking on the filter. The "OUT" goes to the line going to the engine. The filter is a Bosch filter and always marked.
