Jaguar Repair: Brake lights, amp fuse, brake light switch

Question
QUESTION: Mr. Fitzcharles,

Thank you for helping me get my instruments working.  I found a poor fuse connection.  Now I am working on the brake lights.  I have no power to the brake light switch (either side of the switch).  I checked the 35 amp fuse which says it is for the brake lights and I have no power on either side of the fuse?  I am at a loss as to where to look next.  Can you please give me some suggestions?

ANSWER: Hi Kim,
You need to remind me what kind of car this is when asking a new question so I don't have to dig into old questions to find out. I did dig up the old question and found it is an 85 XJ-6.

If you don't have power on either side of #11 fuse with the key on, then you need to remove the fuse panel and test the connections to see why. Power comes directly from the ignition switch in #1 and #2 position to the #11 fuse holder. (plus several others)

QUESTION: Sir,
Sorry about the oversight and you were correct my car is a 1985 XJ6. Could you tell me if there is an easy way to get more slack in the wiring harness where the wires attach to the back of the fuse panel? Not much room to turn the panel to check connections and I don't want to pull too hard on the wires.
Thank you very much for all of your help as your experience is greatly appreciated!

Answer
Sorry Kim, no easy short cuts I know of. Most that I pulled down, I had the whole dash off. I only remember doing a few with everything in place and all I can remember about it is that it was a hassle to do. If it is too difficult you may want to make a jumper to power up the brake light switch from another source. (If that is the only thing that is not working)
