Jaguar Repair: 1985 XJ6 Window problem, rocker switches, toggle action

Question
Hi, I recently purchased a pristine 85 XJ6 with 58K. The sunroof and power windows work sporadically and I'm afraid to lower them for fear they won't go back up! I suspect the switches as if you play with them enough, the windows eventually move. Also the center "master" switch is broken and has no "toggle" action left in it. How do you gain access to the switches to either test or repair/replace them? Thank you so much!

Answer
Hi Paul,
The rocker switches do fail often and the only good thing is that the switches can be disassembled and repaired. To gain access to them you need to remove the arm rest lid and then the inner plastic tray. Then you can reach in and remove the electrical plugs and compress the lock tab on each end of the switch and push them out.
