Jaguar Repair: airflow meter, airflow meter, vacuum test

Question
I tested the airflow meter as suggested Pin #6 to #27 was 3.86 @ 50 Farenheit. Opened and closed the flap and sow some but very little change. In the morning the car will start right up but I notice at the end of the day i have to open the flap by hand with the key on to get fuel flowing in order for the car to start. Any suggestions?  thanks Sid.. 1983 xj6

Answer
Hi Sid,
The vacuum that the engine produces is what opens that flap so If it is not opening, you need to run a vacuum test on the intake and run a compression test on all cylinders as any leaking intake valve can destroy the vacuum on starting.
