Jaguar Repair: Engine bay wiring, brake servo, thermo fan

Question
QUESTION: You really know your stuff under the hood! I am just finishing rewiring my XJ6 Series 3 4.2 EFi and have a couple of wires left. Any ideas would be helpful!
1. The loom running to the horn relay has a Green wire with an orange stripe hanging out just before the horn wires exit – pretty sure this was connected to something as I marked it up as connecting to Engine ECU. So it might be important? I have traced the other end to the multiplug socket but no further (as yet).
2. I have a pair of relays (red and black small cylinders) originally fitted near the brake servo with 3 wires that I can’t find homes for! A brown (positive I think) with a bullet terminator, yellow and blue with spade terminators. I’m not sure what these relays were for so that might give a clue in itself?

Thanks in advance for any guidance. Phil

ANSWER: Hi Phil,
The only green w/orange wire I can find up front is a Light green w/orange that goes to the thermo fan switch in the radiator.

As for the relays close to the brake servo you through me for a minute as there are no relays near the brake servo. But then I spotted that you were in the UK and probably had a right hand drive car. You English put the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car. ha!
There should be three small relays (plastic) and one larger metal relay.
The red one is not a relay but is a diode pack and the two small black relays are the fuel pump and main relay and the larger metal one is the starter relay.

The only wire with yellow in it around the relays is a jumper that is white w/yellow tracer that runs from the diode pack to the starter relay. I can't find any brown wire with a bullet connecter. Any brown wire is a power wire that is usually power all the time.
I also can not find any wire with blue in it in that area since blue is a head light wire color.
Lucas color codes are usually consistent.
Brown = power
green = some accessory
blue  = head lights
black = ground
white = ignition circuit
Red   = small lights
purple= unfused hot wire for a small accessory

The tracers are usually also consistent. Blue w/red tracer is a right head light and blue w/white is a left head light. A green w/black is a grounding wire to operate an accessory.
A white w/black is a grounding wire for a coil (ignition)

The only thing I can think of is that these extra wires may be for some unit on a UK car that we here in the US don't have. ??
Sorry, that is the best I can tell you.

QUESTION: Thanks - that's helpful not withstanding the steering wheel being in the wrong place! I have replaced the radiator with a much more efficient one that doesn't need the fan, so it's possible that the missing wire actual went to the fan switch (which has now gone!). I have found the diode+2 relays, which I sort of understand. You may well be right that the additional 2 relays (or maybe diodes) next to the servo might be a peculiar UK fixture. I'll keep looking - thanks for the tips. Phil

Answer
If you have put a radiator in that don't have a switch, that may not be a problem as many Ser. III cars here have never even seen the fan come on. And you could always put a small relay operated by a manual switch in the cockpit just in case you get caught in heavy traffic in the summer. Then you could operate the extra electric fan manually.

I am not saying the relays are possibly a UK thing. You need the red relay (diode pack) and two small black relays and one larger metal relay to operate the car. I mean that your extra wires may be a UK thing since you only have three extra wires.

A wiring diagram of the car would help you, if you don't have one let me know and I will post one on my web site for you to copy.
