Jaguar Repair: 1973 xj6 ignition lock removal, jaguar xj6, dash board

hello, I have a 1973 Jaguar XJ6, and there is a problem with the ignition lock assembly, do you know the best way to remove it from the dash board and replace it?  Do I have to take out the dash?  I've unscrewed the assembly and its housing, but it doesn't want to come out.  Thank you for your time

Hi William,
It has been a long time since I worked on a 73 Jag but I think the switch comes out the same way a later series III jag comes out and you have to remove the plastic cover with screws up from the bottom. This exposes the lock and switch. Now you can remove the lock and switch from the column.
