Jaguar Repair: 1987 Jaguar xJ6, 1987 jaguar xj6, rust holes

Question
This car has 113,000 miles and runs like a top. I was told by a mechanic that since it was a unibody and started to rust that it would be useless to try to maintain this car. I don't believe him. What do you think?

Answer
Hi Sam,
That depends on how much rust and how much you like the car. It in no way matters what I think, it only matters what you think. I once owned a A-H 100-4 and both rocker panels had rusted away and the bottom of the fenders had large rust holes in all four. The paint was faded and the top didn't fit right. Both seats were bad and the rest of the body had several dents and the bumpers were gone before I got it, but it ran good and I loved the car and would not have traded it for any new car of the time. So make your own decision and don't listen to that mechanic nor me.
