Answer
Hi Douglas,
Nice looking car, it must have been garage kept or a restoration. I have no experience with the European version but I will try to help as best I can. I believe the speedo does push in and turn to remove. I don't know if it is a cable driven speedo or an electric. You will know quickly when you get the speedo out. Most of the older British cars were cable driven. If it is cable driven remove the speedo and with the back of the car jacked up, start the car and put it in gear and see if the cable turns and if not go down to the joint at the 90 degree drive on the rear of the transmission and remove the cable and do the same to see if the 90 degree drive is turning. then remove the drive if it is not turning to see if the transmission drive is turning.

On most British cars I have worked on the cable was the most common failed item. If it is the cable check to see if the cable housing is dry or kinked causing the cable to break. You need to insert a small piece of cable or a small screw driver into the back of the speedo to see that it is not locked up or hard to rotate. A broken 90 degree drive can also be broken by a locked up speedo.
