Jaguar Repair: Radio Removel, sheet metal screws, radio installations

Question
I Am About To Replace The Radio In My 1985 XJ6 ... I Have Drilled Out The Two Rivets And The Player Is loose ...
Do I Get It Out From The Front (the a/c panel is in the way), ..Or Does It Come Out From The Side Panel, .... Or Do I Have To Pull The Console .... Yikes! Please Help  !!

Answer
Hi Andy,
You have to remove the front panel first by removing the Heat/AC knobs then the recessed nuts and lift that panel out being careful not to damage the fiber optics. With that panel off you can see the radio mounting plate which on most radio installations is screwed in with two or four sheet metal screws and you should be able to withdraw the radio to access the wire plugs.
