Jaguar Repair: 1987 xj6 No ign lights,, brown wires, only thing missing

Question
Hi Howard, After parking up the 1987 XJ6 for a few years,
(drove it in the shed)I drained the fuel last week cleared the lines, put in a battery and turned it over. Only thing missing is there is no ign lights and no go? Checked all fuses and by passed the alarm immobilize fitted. There is power to the coil as per manual checks but no spark or ign lights, however the water light does come on for a few seconds, fuel pump works and everything else seems to go. It is a lucas constant energy ign. Can you help?

Answer
Hi Darren,
The Ignition light and all of the central warning lights get their power direct from the ignition switch which is powered direct from the large brown wires on the left side power terminal in the fire wall. Check for power on that power terminal and tighten the nut on both the left and the right power terminals in the fire wall. Then if still no lights check for power at the ignition switch plug connector (brown wire). The wires from the switch to the ign light and the warning lights are White.
