Jaguar Repair: engine dies - wont start for 5-10 minutes, electronic fuel injection, high tech tools

Question
I have a 1987 Jag XJ6.  I recently replaced the fuel pump, installed a new battery, and put a new starter on it.  Now it runs fine, but will abruptly quit - just like turning off the key.  It will turn over, but not start.  If I wait about 10 minutes, then it will fire up and run.  It will run fine for an unpredictable amount of time then abruptly quit again.  It seems to be getting fuel and has spark, but won't fire each time for about 10 minutes.  Any thoughts?

Answer
Hi Bill,
A piston engine can not have spark and fuel and not run unless compression goes away for 10 min. and then returns which is highly unlikely.
Tell me how you tested for fuel and spark. One of these two is most likely missing. Either one is capable of going away for 10 min. Even though the ignition is electronic and the fuel is electronic fuel injection there are several tests that you can do without any high tech tools.
Let me know.
