Jaguar Repair: Dropped worn door hinges, jaguar series, door hinges

Hi Howard,
I have a jaguar series 3 sovereign XJ6 1984 4.2 auto.The two front doors have dropped and I need to change the hinges please could you tell me the easiest way to go about this and any problems pitfalls I should avoid.I have bought secondhand door hinges to replace the old ones. Many thanks in advance for any help you can give Regards John

Hi John,
Even though the job looks easy, it is a little more than it appears.
Jack the car up and turn the wheel to one side so you can remove the inner fender. Remove the two lower fender bolts and more to the rear. On the hinges you will see one or two ground straps that must be removed. Then you can remove the hinges and replace them one at a time. Be sure to put the ground straps back on as you have electric windows, door locks and radio speakers.
