Jaguar Repair: 1992 JAGUAR XJS 12 CYLINDER, hydraulic pressure gauge, xk 120

Question
MY QUISTION IS THAT AT IDLE GAUGE SHOWS IN RED GAS GAUGE DOES NOT WORK AT ALL TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS GETTING 25 PSI AFTER SENSOR IS THAT ENOUGH PREASURE AT IDLE OR DO YOU THINK OIL PUMP IS BAD

Answer
Hi Michael,
25 PSI oil pressure at idle (If the oil is up to operating temp and the oil is a multi grade oil not exceeding 40w) is OK. If the oil has several K miles on it then it is very normal. However, you said "AFTER" the sensor. I learned a long time ago that electric sensors are unreliable. Any time I check oil pressure, I do it with a hydraulic pressure gauge. If you have electrical problems with several instruments you need a wiring diagram of the car to know where to start testing. I am experienced on Jaguar from the XK-120 up to the 1987 XJ-6 only and I don't have diagrams of any Jag after that or I could help you with the gauge problem.
