Jaguar Repair: JAGUAR XJ6 (Model Years 1995 --> 1997), xk 120, jaguar classic

Question
HELLO..I am contemplating on buying a pre-owned XJ6, preferably 1995 --> 1997.  Because of Jag's reliability problems and high cost of maintenance, I still have my reservations in pursuing my dream of owning one.  My dad used to own a Jaguar classic - -'67 420 Sedan with the elegant black leather interior. It was beautiful ! It was the real deal....the leather, the burlwood...everything was original !!!   But it was a different car altogether.

But, I've heard of good things and high praises for the '95-97 XJ6s in terms of overall performace, style, and RELIABILITY.

Being the JAG EXPERT, I would appreciate your input and comments, and perhaps, you can give me some pointers on WHAT TO LOOK FOR and WHAT TO AVOID with these cars.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Answer
Hi Al,
I am only experienced on Jag from the XK-120 up to the series III XJ-6 1987. What little I do know of the 95 to 97 XJ-6 is what I hear from friends in the Jag business and they too say that series car is much more reliable and very high in performance as compared to the 88 up Jags.
However, it is a very high tech and complex car so you will need to ONLY let a Jag specialist work on it.
That's about all I can tell you for sure about the car.
