Jeep Repair: snap on transmission hose, spring retainer, haynes manual

Question
I have a Right hand drive 96 Grand Cherokee 4.0 Ltd (Belgium built - I'm in the UK) One of the auto transmission hoses from the radiator has a small leak from the snap on connector. I tried to obtain a replacement from my local Mercedes/Chrysler dealer but they were not able to find the part on their system and so I ended up ordering a part, sight unseen, from the US. According to Haynes manual there appear to be at least three different snap-on connector types. The hose I received has has an end with a 4-way spring type retainer which doesn't match anything I have seen. The original old hose used a plastic retaining clip to secure the hose to the rigid pipe. I am trying to work if I just push the rigid pipe into the new hose with the spring retainer clip if it will be secure enough. This may be a difference between US and European models. I have uploaded some images to Flickr to hopefully make this a bit clearer.

Answer
The hose you ordered will work just fine on your Jeep and is the correct replacement part. The plstic retainers were done away with many years ago. They had a tendancy to melt and spray transmission fluid all over causing a potential fire hazard. I liked the pictures, they really clarified your question.
