Jeep Repair: diesel fuel filter shelf life, diesel fuel filter, turbo diesel engine

2008 Jeep GC CRD with Mercedes 3L V6 turbo diesel engine. Have a Mahle diesel fuel filter (KL 228.2 D) that was manufactured in January 2006. It has all openings still sealed and was stored in climate controlled room. Can I still use it?

Not being a Petrochemist, there is no way I can answer this question in any quantifiable way. Sorry. My best guess that any fuel stored at a temperature below its RVP and in sealed containers should be good almost indefinably. Provided it doesn't degrade from any biological contaminants. That is the best I can do.
