Jeep Repair: Jeep Repair, jeep repair, battery cables

Question
Hi Kevin, I appreciate your service, I am also an All Experts volunteer in another field.  My Son has a 2000 4.7L Grand Cherokee that we replaced the motor in 6 months ago and has run fine. 3 weeks ago in a parking lot it would die when put in drive but run fine in reverse. My other son is a VW Mechanic (1500 miles away)and he suggested putting the battery cables together for  10 minutes, we did and it worked for about a mile, each time we did it until we got it home. now it would not even start. from online advice we replaced the cam positioning sensor and everything worked great for 2 weeks. 2 days ago while driving it stalled and would not start again. the battery cable trick did not work either. We towed it home, put in another cam sensor incase it was defective, first try it would not start, not even try.  took a spark plug out to see if we were getting spark and when i turned it over to see, the jeep started. So we shook our heads put it back together, drove around the block, all was well. This morning it started up, backed out of the driveway and as soon as it shifted to Drive, it died again. So he backed it around in a big circle and back into the driveway to work on. I told him to see if it was just Drive, or 1st and 2nd too,  when he tried to see, it is working fine again.  About 2 years ago on a hard stop a tool box slid forward from the back and jammed the shifter, it has been no problem yet, just thought I would mention it. Sounds like a loose wire?  What are your thoughts, again I appreciate your help. Codes  P0100  P0765  Have a great day.
