Jeep Repair: 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Heating Issues, jeep grand cherokee, air doors

Question
QUESTION: Dual temp control. I had problems with heater going out, work sometimes then go out, then come back on.  Summer came along AC worked fine.  Now winter coming on again the heater would not work at all.  Took it to Jeep dealer, they said blower motor shorted out, they charged $380.00 to replace blower motor.  When they fixed it there is heat coming out drivers side only, passenger side is cold air.  Now they are saying blend door assembly needs replaced for $1275.00  I read one post about blower not working and the problem could have been resistor.  If, and I do mean IF they did actually replace the blower motor, could they have damaged the blend door when doing this repair.  Thank you, Tom

ANSWER: no the blend air doors are inside the housing  and yes they brake all the time  I did a set today at work. The resistor is outside and have nothing to do with the heat or cooling of the air  only more the air through the box.

QUESTION: To replace the blower motor would they have to remove or even mess with the housing.  I understand that the resistor is outside the housing, but what about blower motor replacement, would that have anything to do with the housing/blend doors

Answer
no  its just 3 screws for the blower motor  its still outside of the housing to say.   what they did will not have any affect on the blend air doors  they brake all the time until u get the updated doors  I know this for a fact  I did a set today at work. I have done over all  about 30 or so in my jeep career.
