Question
QUESTION: Kevin,  I submitted an initial question regarding what appears to be an electrical problem...seconds after starting the engine, the air-bag warning light appears, and the A/C fan does not operate, nor does the back-up lights.  You asked for clarification as to which warning light, and your subsequent reply came thru with only a "Thank you", but no other information as to what you think the problem might be.  Can you still help?

QUESTION: What is an "ign switch"?  Is it a part I can obtain, and replace myself?.  As I mentioned, the Jeep is now located on a small island in the Caribbean, and the expertise of people who work on cars is limited to say the best.  Can you provide instructions as to how to replace the ign switch.  Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
ignition switch

REMOVAL
The ignition key must be in the key cylinder for cylinder removal. The key cylinder must be removed first before removing ignition switch.

Remove key cylinder. (Refer to 19 - STEERING/COLUMN/LOCK CYLINDER HOUSING - REMOVAL).
Remove lower steering column cover screws and remove cover.
Remove the multi-function switch.
Disconnect the electrical connector at the rear of the ignition switch.
Remove the ignition switch mounting screw (IGNITION SWITCH MOUNTING SCREW). Use tamper proof torx bit to remove the screw.
Pull the ignition switch straight out to remove from the locking tabs (IGNITION SWITCH TABS)
