Jeep Repair: speed sensor control, output speed, speed sensor

Hello Kevin,
Thanks for taking this question.  I have a 1999 JGC with the service code P 0720 which I looked up to be a malfunction with the Speed Sensor Control.  My question is, how easy is this for the non-mechanic to repair himself?  I've done most engine work myself growing up but have not tackled any transmission work.  Thank you for your assistance and help.

P0720-OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR ERROR
POSSIBLE CAUSES
INTERMITTENT WIRING & CONNECTORS CONDITIONS
REPLACE OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR
OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN
SPEED SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE
SPEED SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE
TCM DEFECTIVE

u could start with a speed sensor on the tranny first.
