Jeep Repair: 1989 cherokee 4.0 wont start, crank sensor, symatic

Question
Hi I picked up this jeep knowing that it would not start I found the problem the cps crank sensor wire broke from the crank sensor I have about 5 inches of wire with no connector on it I can not find the wire/ end it broke off of can you tell me on which side it should be on, also is it a three wire sensor or a 2 wire, I have a book Haynes and the wire symatic does not show a cps it does show a sync sensor so I am assuming that is it what should the connector look like round or flat any help with will be greatly appreciated also what size are the bolts that hold the cps on I will have to try and make up a tool toget it off can not get to it Thanks Toby

Answer
The crank position sensor is on the left side of the transmission bellhousing on the top.  I believe it is a 3 wire sensor, its a waveform sensor so it should have a 12+ wire, an out put wire, and a 5+ volt wire.  I don't know where the wires come from but they should be in their own harness.  This sensor could also be a sync sensor.  Hope I could help you!
