Jeep Repair: 1993 Jeep Country, grand cherokee, maintenance history

Question
I have a 1993 Jeep Country that runs good when you are moving, but when you slow down or come to a stop, the RPM's bottom out and it stalls out.  What could be causing this problem?
By the way it is a 2WD automatic 6 cylinder with high output.

Answer
A dirty throttle body will cause the idle to drop down too much, worn plugs/wires/cap/rotor may cause this...

There's really so many things it can be at this point that I just can't be anything more than vague in response.

If you give me a bit more information then we might be able to start ruling out some things.  What sort of maintenance history do you have with the car?  How old are the plugs, wires, cap and rotor (tune-up components), is there a check engine light on?  Have you had one in the past and what repairs were performend to make the light go out?

Also, you mentioned that it's a jeep, 93 with the H.O. 6 cylinder.  That's very helpful but "country" is an accessories package and doesn't tell me if it's a cherokee or grand cherokee?  Which one is it so I can help you better?
Thanks,
Doug
