Jeep Repair: 93 Jeep GC, ac delco, ignition coils

Question
Yes they are brand new, one was a ac delco and the other a Niehoff. The Jeep is a Jeep GC with a V8 5.2L. I purchased them from Partsource (Niehoff) and ASA parts (AC Delco).  Read someone about having to use a low resistance coil and harness upgrade. Called 3 dealers and they have no idea.
Any help is appreciated.

Question -
In the last month I have replaced 3 ignition coils, all cracked on the bottom causing them to ground out. I have used to different brands and all brand new. The vehicle runs great in the city and dies when I take it on the highway. Put a new ignition coil and it starts up right away (I now carry a spare). What could cause the coils to go like this, I am scared to even go near a highway. The only thing that I have had done is some work on the AC.
Could bad wires, distributor, plugs do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

This is a new one to me.  About the only thing I can remember about them is that there was a service bulletin at one point about them failing.  The repair was to replace it with a newer style that required a jumper harness to make everything plug and play.

Where are you getting these coils from?  Are they all brand new parts from the same supplier (i.e. all the same manufacturer) or have you tried three different coils from three different companies?

Also, what engine do you have?  4.0L or 5.2?

Answer
AH AH!!!!  Sorry, I searched for quite a few mins with no results and happened to run across this stuff below while looking in to something for someone else.

1 Ignition Coil
4762312

1 Harness package
4762311

The service bulletin applies specifically to a 4.0L engine but MIGHT fix your problem as well.  On the outside these coils look almost identical so they may be one and the same.  Hope this helps.
