Land Rover Repair: key fob of 2005 LR3, 2005 lr3, security controller

Question
Both of my two keys of the 2005 LR3 don't work anymore.  I tried to insert it in the ignition switch and retrofire the engine for 6 minutes, but it could not be initialized. Is there any way to resolve the problem without the dealer?

If you put the key in the ignition and leave it a few minutes, and the car does not crank, and you followed the reset procedure in the owner's manual, your next step is to tow the vehicle to the dealer or a specialist with the IDS or Autologic system to talk to the security controller and see what's wrong.  If both keys have failed at once I'd suspect a problem in the car, not the keys

Look at the list of shops on www.rangerovers,net if you want alternatives to the dealer, but make sure they have the skill and tools to handle an issue like this.  Security problems require factory level diagnostic equipment and the training to use it.
