Land Rover Repair: 99 Land Rover Disc cuts off, land rover discovery, cylinder lubricant

Question
Hello Nigel,
My name is Yevonne; I own a 99 Land Rover Discovery I with 125,00mi. For the past 2 weeks my car would start then 2 seconds later cut off. I took it to a local repair shop and they said it was the fuel relay…so I replaced it. As soon I drove it home tried to start it again and the same problem happened. I then took it to the Land Rover Dealership and they said it was the crank shaft sensor… I replaced it and it still wasn’t fixed. So then they said it was the fuel pump and $1500 later my car is starting up; but now I just tried to start my car and it’s almost like it wanted to cut off.  Nigel, I’m hoping this is just a false alarm:).  Not even 6 months ago I replaced the alternator, gearbox, heating coil and spark plugs. Please Help Me

Answer
It sounds like you have covered all of the usual culprits.  Other than that, you could have your base idle set up.  Put in an upper cylinder lubricant in your engine oil to see if it frees off sticky inlet and exhaust valves.  Also, make sure your fuel filter was replaced.
