Land Rover Repair: Overheating 2002 Discovery, overheating, coolant leak

Question
I have been hearing a water noise in what I believe to be the area of the heater core (inside the cab).  Now my Disco II is overheating.  Does this sound like the heater core?  I would like your optinion before I tear it apart.

Thanks

Answer
The gurgling noise usually means the coolant level is way too low.  My guess is that you have a leak somewhere, and it finally got so low that it overheated.  Find and fix it right away as these engines are very sensitive to overheat damage.

Heater cores seldom fail in those models.  Look to the engine compartment for your leak.

Good luck to you.
