Land Rover Repair: smoking engine, engine smoke, smoking engine

Question
hi we have a brand new land rover discovery with 4k on the clock and in the mornings when we start the engine form cold we have blue/grey smoke that come out of the exhausts. once the engine has been started it doesn`t happen again.

Answer
Is it smoke, or steam?  In most cases, when I hear things like this from customers at Robison Service, they are actually seeing steam which forms normally at certain times of year during the warmup process.  I'd suggest you ask your dealer if the vehicle is nearly new.  It's hard to have a situation where the vehicle will actually smoke without setting a check engine warning.  And steam is very often mistaken for smoke.
