Land Rover Repair: 01 Disco II Ace isues, air suspension, coil springs

Question
Hello John, I have an 01 DiscoveryII with an Ace package. Recently if I don't let the car run when I come to a stop so that the compressor can fill the rear air springs the rear driver side will drop to the stop. If I let it run though when I park the rear bags will stay full and loose no air even if parked for a week or more. The last few day's as soon as I start driving the rear will drop all the way down and not fill up until I come to a stop and put it in park? Any ideas? I do hear air hissing out like a tire is going flat on the rear driver side when I stop and turn off the car before the compressor stops running? Thanks, Brad

Answer
It sure sounds like the suspension airbag is leaking on that side.  The thing is, bag repairs are $400+, and if you fix one side the other can't be too far behind.  It will cost less to dump the air suspension and simply fit coil springs.  You can buy kits from Atlantic British to do that very thing.  That's what I usually recommend for reasons of cost and continuing hassle.
