Land Rover Repair: Engine swap, p38 range rover, salvage yard

Question
I have a 93 Rangerover that's now a rollover write-off with a good 3.9L petrol engine. I have acquired a 95 Rangie complete in great condition minus the 4.6L original petrol engine. I only used the 93 as my "farm hack" and would like to put the 95 to the same task.   What is involved in transplanting the 93 3.9L engine into the 95 P38 Rangie? Obviously I have the individual ECU's and other electronics. Thanks, Steve

Answer
It would be a lot of work to fit a 1993 engine into a 1995 P38 Range Rover.  You would be far wiser to find a salvage yard and pay them to swap your 93 stuff for compatible 95-98 gear for the other truck.  The engines and engine management are just totally different.  The belts, hoses, lines . . . all that stuff is incompatible.  Get the right motor . . . it will save a world of headache
