Land Rover Repair: Range Rover 4.6 HSE Change to Diesel, toyota camry, petrol prices

Question
I live in Cameroon where I was able to get a Range Rover 4.6 HSE for a song. Unfortunately, petrol prices are out of the skies here so I've been considering changing my engine to a diesel one.

It may sound just a bit strange out there but here in Cameroon, there are mechanics who can convert engines like this and even adapt the engine of an unrelated mode (e.g. replacing a merceded E220 engine with that of a toyota camry!) I understand that there are a lot of modifications that are done and I just wish to do this as best as I can.

Consequently, I wouldlike to know which engines would be compatible with the Range Rover 4.6 HSE model. Perhaps I should mention that the more available 4x4 here are Toyotas so my ideal option would be a Toyota replacement.

I do hope I have not shocked your sesibilities by my question.

Thank you and here's looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Answer
The easiest change would be to fit a 300TDI from a wrecked diesel Range Rover.  That way you could just buy everything you need.  Failing that the Brazil Built 2.8 litre Powerstroke is a popular motor for conversions.  It's a big job no matter how you slice it
