Land Rover Repair: Range Rover 2005, 2005 range rover, range rover

Question
I have a 2005 Range Rover which has been in and out of the shop lately and the problem keeps reocurring.  First it was smoking from the front, coming out the tires.  I was told it was oil leaking onto the engine b/c a gasket was broken.  This was fixed and it continues to smoke badly.  Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Answer
Smoke is almost always a result of oil leaking onto the hot exhaust.  That can come from leaks on the engine, or the transmission or even the power steering.  You say "this was fixed" but usually engines have more than one leak when they get old, and if it were truly fixed it probably would not smoke.  I suggest you get a real LR specialist to look the vehicle over and give an opinion on leaks and what to d about them.  Don't be surprised if repair is a multi-step process.
