Land Rover Repair: air suspenion p38, rubber bushes, vibration problem

Question
Hello
I've just bought a up RR,all was well until three days ago,the air suspension pump has a mind of it's own on tick over the pump vibrates like mad and the suspension goes down 2 clicks then goes up to standard height.
also when driving the pump is working on and off all the time.
as being a first time RR owner could you shed some light on the problem,i have been told that it is the rubber bushes on the pump that need replacing, this might cure the vibration problem, but please can you help me sort out both problems.
many many thanks
Adam

Answer
If the pump runs all the time, it's either worn out, or the system leaks, or both.  That said, the most cost-effective repair is to convert the truck to coil springs.  In the United States good conversion kits are available from Atlantic British or Rovers North, and no special tools are needed to fit them.

Repair of the air suspension is costly, and the systems just are not very reliable when they get to be 8-10 years old.  You also need a t4 or Autologic tester to communicate with the air suspension controller.
