1997 disco oil leaking from filter no matter how tight you get it. new filter and oil changed, surfaces are clean. is the threaded tube to the housing the problem? you  help is appreciated.  greg...

The oil filter has its own gasket.  If you fitted a genuine filter and tightened it properly it will not leak.  If that's the situation and oil is coming out I think you'll find the leak to be elsewhere.  Perhaps in the front cover, or the cooler lines.  The front seal is a possibility too.  Wash it off and look carefully for your answer.
