Land Rover Repair: Land Rover Discovery SE 7 2003, obd ii scanners, land rover discovery

Question
We bought our Disco used and it seemed to be in great shape.  Now, the SRS light is on and the Service engine soon light is on.  The car had its 85,000 mile check up a couple of weeks ago.  Oil has been changed?  I found out how to reset the Service Engine soon light-although it sounds difficult to me- but what does the SRS light mean. Do I need to replace the airbags?  We purchased the car and it did not have a booklet, we have ordered one, but still have not received it.

Answer
The SRS light means there is an active fault with the airbag restraint system.  You need to find a dealer or specialist with the autologic IDS or T4 system to talk to the SRS and see what's wrong.  Generic OBD II scanners won't talk to the SRS in a Rover.

Repair could be $200 or $1,500 - it's nothing but a wild guess until you know what's wrong.  Until then, assume the airbag system will not protect you in the event of a crash

Good luck
