Land Rover Repair: replace shift hood, trck, freelander

Hi John,  I need to replace the shift hood on my 2002 Freelander SE.  I picked
one up from atlanticbritish.com and thought I was ready to go.  I unscrewed
the two screws in the sides of the middle (console?) thinking I could then just
lift it up, remove the old one and replace it with the new one.  However once I
removed the screws, the thing will still not budge.  What am I overlooking?

I asked our Land Rover foreman, who said "they just come off."  If you really can't get it, you can go to Land Rover's service site, www.landrovertechinfo.com and download any and all service data for your truck for a small access fee.  I'm sorry I don't have a trck up my sleeve for this, but look at the new part and see if there's anything you may have missed.
