Land Rover Repair: Front left suspension, land rover discovery, shock absorber

Question
I own a 1994 Land Rover Discovery, recently after hitting a bump the front left tire rides higher than usual. It appears that a rod in its suspension has become dislodged and sticks in the same position. If i jacked the car up and guided the rod back into place would this fix my problem? Thanks

Answer
I am not quite sure what rod could be sticking other than the rod coming out of the center of the shock absorber.  Check to see if the left, front shock absorber is seized and has, thus, stopped compressing.  If not, see if the right, front spring has collapsed.
