Land Rover Repair: 97 LR Disco, straight bars, steering wheel

Question
Hi, I recently acquired my second Rover, now have an 03 and a 97 Disco, took the elder out for a woodsy stroll and found, upon my return, a bar underneath the front end looks bent, very first bar on the linkage, in the center, is it supposed to have a curve to it, or did I bump a log along the way? My 03 has straight bars all across the undercarriage, and I failed to closely examine the 97 before I made woods with it. Thanks in advance, Spencer

Answer
You have bent one of the two steering rods, based upon your description.  The steering wheel must be off center too, eh?  You can straighten the rods but I suggest you fit a new one because straightend rods are always weak and prone to bend again, all too easily.
