Both reverse lights wont come on when reverse is engaged and now the emission control light comes and goes every now and then

Does either reverse light work?  If so, you have a bulb or wiring problem.  If not, you may have bulb or wiring problems or you may have a problem in the transmission switch or the controller.  You can access wiring diagrams for a fee at www.landrovertechinfo.com if you want to attack this yourself.

You should connect an OBD II scan tool to the diagnostic port to see why the engine light is coming on.  There will be one or more stored codes.
