Land Rover Repair: 2001 land rover range rover hse 4.6, range rover hse, land rover range rover

Question
I was handed a basket case L.R. R.R. 4.6  top end over haul and have found conflicting data On the the cyl locations (i.e which one is #1 viewed from front) and cannot find a diagram for the coil packs, all references are displayed as linear? not as square"s x2 can you help???

Answer
Hi Marty,

the owner's manual has a spark plug (HT) lead diagram which shows (from the front of the engine) that 1,3,5,7 (front to back) are to the right side and 2,4,6,8 (front to back) are to the left side.

In the workshop manual, 1,3,5,7 is RH and 2,4,6,8 is LH.  This is from the driver's seat perspective.

Why LR does this is beyond me.

I'd go with the owner's manual when replacing the HT leads (Maintenance Section).

Send me an email and I'll respond with what techsheets I have.

Marty,

I would have liked to send you the techsheets I have on this.  I cannot cut 'n paste graphics to this website so the only way to send graphics is if you send me an email.

If you have the workshop manaual, you'll find the Ignition coil and HT lead repair pages within the FUEL SYSTEM - LAND ROVER V8 section.

Not having the ability to attached files or graphics limits my answers.  A picture speaks a thousand words.  Sorry if I did not answer your question completely.  John.
