Land Rover Repair: 2003 Discovery SE, shuttle valve, valve failure

Question
I am looking at purchasing a Disco (75K miles)that just had the ABS module rebuilt by a local shop.  LR dealer says they don't rebuild just replace for $2300. Any experience with reliability of rebuilt modules? Thank you!

Answer
The main fault with the ABS modualtor on these vehicles is electrical shuttle valve failure.  The shuttle valve is available as a separate item, to be replaced in the unit, which would contitute rebuilding.  I have found replacement of the shuttle valve to be extremely successful and even dealers sell the replacement kit and most dealers have replaced hundreds of these themselves.
