Land Rover Repair: fuel tank recall, new tank, free fuel

I took my LR to the dealer in Plains,PA and after a few days got a call saying it would cost me 1500. for my "free" fuel tank due to the fact that lines and fuel pump might need to be replaced. Im on a fixed income and when I told them I wouldnt have it done because I couldnt afford that they still charged me 100. just to take a plate off to see if I had the new tank or not! It took me almost 4 months to get this money up to get my LR back! And now that its back its leaking gas in a few different places that wasnt when it went down there! After all this I believe recalls are just money makers for the companies. Nothing is really free in this world I guess! I lost my faith in LR! I cant even find someone that could do anything about this!

Contact the Land Rover district service manager in the area.  They are required by Federal law to replace both the recalled item and any items that are damaged by that recalled item.  You should be able to get your money back and get the required repairs completed.
