Land Rover Repair: 97 Discovery LSE / Doors wont stay locked, door lock actuators, actuator

Question
Nigel,

I just picked up this Disco from a man who babied it and really cared for it. The interior is showroom new and the exterior is beautiful for a 1997 model. I had been looking for 5 months and this Disco was by far and away the best running and the only one I found with NO LEAKS! I t just has one issue and that being the fact that the locks will pop back up when we close the doors. Is this common and what is the best approach to mending this issue so that my wife can lock it up. It has the double button key FOB. Thanks for any advixe in advance and I just love all the information and sharing on this site. We have wanted a Discovery for so long and though I know they have many issues, we hope to keep this one running for a long time. By the way, we have named her Rose, since she is a beautiful Irish green color. Thanks!

Answer
It sounds to me like the door lock actuators are out of adjustment, most likely one of the front ones.  This usually happens because of binding linkages or because the screws securing the actuators have come loose,  allowing the actuator to move back and forth.  This prevents it from remaining in the locked state.
