Land Rover Repair: Range Rover 2004 air suspension, range rover hse, 2004 range rover hse

Question
Hi Dennis,
I own a 2004 range rover HSE, and suddenly a few days ago the height change button turned off and it doesn't work anymore. I mean when u press the circular button up or down(to get the car go up and down) it doesn't work. and a day after i noticed the front of my car is at the lowest position, but strangely the back is at the normal height...( so the car is not balanced...because back and front goes up and down together and they should be at a same level always)...i checked my air suspension fuse for both front and back and they all work...i took it to a mechanical and they even checked the computer in the hood and finally he said he doesn't really know..but somehow he said the suspension shocks are fine and u need to calibrate the system...but it seemed he doesn't know much about it...and also the car gives this message:
"air suspension inactivated"
btw i never had any problems with the suspension of my car before.
I would be very glad if you can help me and give me some information of what to do about this...
thanks alottt.
cheers,
Omid.

Answer
That sounds like a leak in the front, the computer will recognize this problem and shut down the air suspension (air suspension inactive message).  This needs a LR specific diagnostic tool to read the code and re-set the computer.  The codes given will point you in the direction of where to look for leaks/other issues.  the suspension rarely needs to be re-calibrated.  Only after replacing a height sensor or major suspension repairs.
